Resident Artists

Suzanne Jones is a Madison-based painter whose abstract acrylic and mixed-media works combine vibrant color and rich texture to create playful, inventive compositions. Intuitive and largely self-taught, she builds layered surfaces on cradleboard using brushes, sponges, pleated cardboard, bubble wrap, and other unconventional tools that leave distinctive marks. Her paintings invite viewers to engage their imagination, discovering fantastical creatures, faces, animals, and familiar forms woven into mysterious visual narratives.

From an early age, art has been a vital source of expression and creativity for Suzanne. She studied drawing in college and has continued to expand her practice through classes at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia; Madison College; and the Atwood Atelier in Madison, Wisconsin. She also completed the 12-week Creative Visionary Program offered through Nicholas Wilton’s Art2Life.
